STUNNA | FENTY BEAUTY LIP PAINT

FENTY STUNNA LIP“lol. still ashy.  Shook.” _Rihanna (In response to Make Up For Ever’s IG post)

.

.

The third launch from the Fenty Beauty brand will bring us the lip paint “Stunna”.  The lip paint follows up the initial face launch that gave us Fenty foundation and the much talked about Trophy Wife.  Next up was the holiday Galaxy Collection.  Now we have Stunna the red lip.  I’m just going to tell you know I’m very excited for this lip paint.  The last time Rihanna dipped her toe into the making of a bold red lip color it during her collaboration with M.A.C.  That’s when the cult favorite “Riri Woo” was born.  It was the prefect red matte lip for every girl in the world.  I’m exciting Stunna lip paint should give us nothing less.

.

.

.

.

The tube looks opaque, bold red lip product. The lip paint doesn’t come the same packaging as the gloss.  The lip paint has a long, facetted conical top instead of the shorter, flat-topped version on the gloss.  I seems that this is a one of lip paint drop but others are speculating this intense red liquid lipstick is only part of the brand’s next generation of launches.  Rihanna has hinted at plans for an expanded lip collection in future.  I’ll be in line November 23rd to see.  Oh did I mention the lip paint price point is $24.

MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam 2017

taraji-p-henson-mac-viva-glam

Since 1994, 100 percent of the proceeds from the purchase of any MAC Viva Glam product has gone to the MAC AIDS Fund.  The fund works to bridge the grab between poverty and HIV/AIDS.  They work international providing services to those living with the illness.  On February 2 Taraji P. Henson and her Empire costar Jussie Smollett will be the latest faces of MAC’s Viva Glam campaign.

Taraji P. Henson launched a small capsule collection #MacTaraji with MAC Cosmetics last year.  I was able to review the #MacTaraji collection before it sold out.  The collection sold out so fast that Taraji’s own mother couldn’t get her hands on it.  I’m sure Mac is hoping for the same success with the 2017 Viva Glam collection.

The two join previous campaign’s famous faces, like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Nicki Minaj. Jussie is the first male face of the Viva Campaign.  He joins the likes of RuPaul, Boy George, Sir Elton John and Ricky Martin.

In an unprecedented move Mac Cosmetic is used a tube of lipstick to directly confront and raise money and awareness for AIDS at a time when the pandemic dramatically affected the fashion makeup communities, and was greatly stigmatized as a gay disease.  22 years later the lipstick with a mission started by Frank Angelo and Frank Toskan is one of the most sought after annually.

I think this year’s berry-red hue will looks great on everyone!  Will you be picking up the lipstick? the lipglass? both?

5 takeaways from The Makeup Show Chicago

themakeupshow

I attended The Makeup Show Chicago and it was amazing.  As a Chicago blogger I love attending events like this and sharing it with my readers.  My Snapchat boos saw all the fun in real time.  I mean wall to wall lipstick, eyelashes and highlighters.  Beside feeling like a kid in a candy store I did learn a lot.  I want to share 5 takeaways from The Makeup Show Chicago.

My first takeaway from The Makeup Show 2016 is Chicago people go hard for makeup.  Guys and girls lined up early to see all The Makeup Show had to offer.  James Vincent  said this year was the most attended Makeup Show ever.

My second takeaway from The Makeup Show is the standard for beauty industry started in Chicago with Mario Tricoci.  During his keynote he spoke about his love for hair.  With all that his has accomplished he said he’s a hairdresser first.  He also spoke about the discipline that has guided his over 60 year career.

themakeupshow-2

My third takeaway from The Makeup Show is everyone’s makeup up journey is different.  The Lip Bar started in 2011 when a Detroit native, Melissa Butler, decided to forever change the way you looked at lip color and with great products and hard work The Lip Bar can be found online at target.

themakeupshow-chicago-3

My fourth takeaway from The Makeup Show is beauty brands are wall to wall.  Bring cash and credit to be safe side.  No one wants to leave their favorite lippie behind because they didn’t have the right currency. A separate blog post and Youtube video of my The Makeup Show haul is coming soon!

tms

My fifth takeaway from The Makeup Show is when you come come ready to slay!  All styles are welcome.  Be the must beautiful you.  I saw some many stylish people with beat faces.  I feel all styles were represented from team natural to pin up.  It was great to be in a place were all forms of artistic expressions though make up and hair were displayed with confidence.

The Makeup show Chicago 2017 is already set.  This is the must-attend event for all makeup professionals in the Midwest!  I’ll be right back at it November 17-18, 2017.  Hope to see you there! Until then follow The Make Show on social media Facebook, InstagramTwitter and by using the hashtags #TMSCHICAGO #INSPIRE #themakeupshow.  The Makeup Show also makes stops in Orlando, NYC, Dallas and LA.  See themakeupshow.com for more info.

Outfit ideas for any sporting event

basketball-look

I was lucky enough to score a pair of tickets to the the Chicago Bulls vs Cleveland Cavs game.  *insert emoji smile* The blogger in me thought black ball grown! Sounds about right!!  Just kidding , lol.  I was however  a little stuck on what to wear.  Should I be a super fan wearing Bulls gear from head to toe.  Or be extra with a floor length mink with Jimmy Choo shoes like a diva.  Chicago Bulls games have become a real fashion event.  And now that the Bulls have added Dwyane Wade to the team I could find myself seating shoulder to shoulder with his wife and Birth of Nation star Gabrielle Union.  If I’m having this issue how many other fashionable sports fan were?  I came up with a few looks that’ll cover all style mavens for any sporting event.

M.A.C. Cosmetics X Taraji P. Henson #MACTaraji Reviewed

I was able to snag a few pieces for the M.A.C. Cosmetics X Taraji P. Henson collaboration.  I was very excited about the collection.  I’ve already written about the collaboration and the items that are apart of it. Below is a link to that blog post.

My thoughts:  Where do I start.  The roll out of this collaboration went south from the start.  I watched a YouTuber VICKYLOGAN review on the collection and in her review she was describe the products and it appeared off.  It totally wasn’t her fault.  After receiving my order I immediately noticed the mineralize skinfinishes were labeled wrong.  I made videos showing my snapchat boos the error.

I’m disappointed that M.A.C. Cosmetics nor Taraji have address this issue publicly.  Mine is not an isolated case.  I know mistakes happens but it’s the lack of public response it what makes consumers update.  I tweeted about this and below you’ll see M.A.C.’s response. Please note that on twitter if there isn’t a word or punctuation before the twitter handle only people that follow both accounts will be able to see the tweet.  I added a period when addressing M.A.C. however when responding back to me and I’m sure others with the same issue M.A.C. isn’t making their responses public.

mactaraji

The mislabeling matters because collections like this are limited edition and thus making them collector items for makeup junkies.  I’ve emailed them and haven’t heard back as of yet.  I’ll be sure to keep you posted on the outcome.

Now to the makeup.  As a darker woman of color this collection didn’t make my heart skip a beat.  The lippie is bomb!  It’s not really matte like M.AC.’s other matte lipsticks but I like it.  I do feel you can get a lip colors very close to Strip Me Down in M.A.C.’s color range already.  Color like M.A.C.’s Taupe.  Or even dup colors from drug store brands like Iman’s Rebel or L’Oréal Divine Wine.  I found the highlight “Highlight The Truth” to be powdery and doesn’t have the pop that I personal like in a highlighter.  Highlight The Truth is no Gold Deposit.  It’s a soft bronze coral with golden shimmer.  I feel you can get something close with e.l.f.’s Baked Highlighter Blush Gems for way less.  The only stand out star is the bush, Taraji Glow.  It’s a slow-baked powder with 77-Mineral Complex that provides a natural, dimensional finish.  It’s a color I haven’t seen really but even with that I think that if you mix two other blush color together and can get close.  I spent almost $90 for 3 products and I’m not happy shopaholic.
