theCurvycon | Dia & Co panel with CFDA one of my favorite panels I attend while at theCURVYcon. What is the CFDA? CFDA stands for the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
CFDA is a not-for-profit trade association, founded in 1962, whose membership consists of more than 500 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers.
theCurvycon |Â Dia & Co With CFDA | Diversity In Fashion
The panel spoke about how important it is to have diversity within fashion. CFDA committee member Tracey Reese spoke on how when she first started in fashion a sample size was a size 8 and other time has shrunk to a size 2. She also spoke about size disparity in the beauty industry.
Lizzo shared how she never thought that plus bodies would be seen at Fashion Week. She added that in her younger days she had to be extremely creative with her fashion because to be plus size and sexy wasn’t a real option. It was until Gabi of Gabi Fashion introduced her swimwear line that she felt that someone understood her and her fashion ideals as a plus size woman.

Dia & Co co-founder Nadia Boujarwah surprised theCURVYcon audience with the Dia & Co and CFDA partnership. Within this post I’ve shared the custom tees that 5 designers have created to fund a special education project for size inclusive classes at fashion schools. Learn more about the #teeupchange project here.
Venus Williams shared that the future of plus fashion includes fitness.

This panel really spoke to me.
I’m really happy with the panel lineup and what each panelists had to offer to the plus size discussion. It’s not often that I’ve seen a panel that come with such different background with knowledgeable thoughts on plus size fashion, size diversity and how to make a difference now as well in the future.
I attended theCurvycon as a guest of the event creators Chastity Garner and CeCe Olisa, however; All opinions are my own.

Louis Vuitton Exhibition NYC | #travelingwhilefat

The Louis Vuitton exhibition was nothing less than luxury on full display. Curated by Olivier Saillard and Robert Carsen as artistic director & set designer, the exhibition retraces the adventure of the House of Louis Vuitton from 1854 to the present. A story told through the portraits of its founders, as well as those who today are inventing the Louis Vuitton of tomorrow.
This free admission exhibition was filled with the best that the Louis Vuttion brand has to offer. It was great to see how Louis Vuttion started to as a local luggage company unto the household brand that everyone wants to have a piece of. The wide range of visitors to the exhibition speaks to the brands reach beyond fashion but is a lifestyle.
It was amazing to see the role my hometown of Chicago played in the story of the Louis Vuttion brand. Louis Vuttion’s son George came to America for the first time when he attended the 1893 Chicago World’sFair. It was there he met with a department store owner who would help debut Louis Vuttion products in America.
I was able to see Louis Vuttion from the beginning as well as modern-day collaborations with brands like Vivienne Westwood to urban brands like Supreme.

Louis Vuttion has had a hand in all parts of travel fashion from the very start.

The first Louis Vuttion tunk was created for theLouis Vuttion brand in 1875.
.

Louis Vuttion used canvas and patterns to set his creations apart, as well as a protection against counterfeits.

8 Must Have Plus Size Tights | Tipping On The Tight Rope
Within this blog post, I’ll be sharing some amazing plus size tights just in time for cold weather season.  From color options to patterns.  So many to pick from.

Tights are an affordable way to update a look. Â They’re a great way to bring some of your summer and even spring looks into fall or winter comfortably. Â Who doesn’t want to wear their favorite dress or shorts into the next season? Â That same dress you rock all summer can now be worn in the fall by simply adding tights to the look. Â Tights are one of my best cold weather friends. Â Depending on the pair you’re wearing they can be not only functionally but sexy or fun.
I have collected a few of my favorite brands so you can see what tight options are out there. Â I have selected tights from Lane Bryant, ASOS, Eloquii, Macy’s and Target. Â Tights come in lots of colors and styles so there is something for everyone.

What does denier mean?
One of the key features of tights is the denier. By definition, denier is a unit of weight used for determining the fineness or thickness of the tights. The lower the denier value, the more fragile and sheer the tights are.
Tights less than 40 denier are generally referred to as pantyhose or stockings. The higher the denier number, the thicker the tights. Opaque tights are commonly available in 50 denier, 60 denier, and 70 denier thicknesses.

Tracee Ellis Ross X J.C. Penney Collaboration Includes Plus Size | #TER4JCPÂ

Everyone’s favorite girlfriend and fashion icon Tracee Ellis Ross is making her style available to the world. Tracee has partnered with J.C. Penney to create a limited edition holiday capsule #TER4JCP that is filled with Black Girl Magic!
JCPenney hasn’t really collaborated with celebrities on collections. Off the heels, of collaboration like Rihanna and Puma, Danielle Brooks and Universal Standard plus-size collection, and Gabrielle Union partnership with New York & Company or LaLa Anthony who recently worked with Lord & Taylor it only makes sense for more department store to do so. JCPenney has debuted a Project Runway partnership and ramped up it’s Sephora in-shop stores. Tracee’s collection is the star-infused and I’m sure that the whole collection will sell out in minutes.
Tracee Ellis Ross said she hopes “Empowers women to embrace their joyful spirit.” Here is currently available the details on the Black-ish star collection. Please note: I have reached out to JCPenney and Tracee Ellis Ross for more information on the collection as it relates to plus sizes. When I receive more information this post will be updated.
