In this blog post, I’ll be talking about my time at Chicago Kiehl’s & Feeding America Holiday Celebration. I’ll also share info on Kiehl’s 10th Annual Limited Edition Charitable Holiday Collection.

“There is no shame in being in need and asking for help.” _@thefatgirloffashion
.
.
Kiehl’s joined forces with Feeding America® for a holiday celebration. Feeding America® has a presence in all 50 states and Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. Feeding America’s nationwide network of 200 member food banks support 60,000 food assistance programs, shelters and meal sites. Each year, Feeding America’s network provides meals and resources to over 46 million people in the United States struggling with food insecurity, including nearly 12 million children. The Feeding America network secures and distributes more than 4 billion meals annually.
We all know the holiday can often be tougher for these family so Kiehl’s is offering a helping hand. Myself along with other Chicago influencers and the Kiehl’s team packed lunches that were used to feed Chicagoans at Harold Washington College thru their food panty.

.
I was very happy when Kiehl’s reached out to me to participate in the Kiehl’s & Feeding America holiday celebration. In packing meals for the Feeding America® at the Greater Chicago Food Depository I was left feeling so filled with joy. In the past I have shared before some of my family struggles when I was a teenager. My parents divorced and my mother found herself an unsupported single mother with three children. We were a family in need. My mother signed us up for many of the programs geared toward helping families that need help.
The Greater Chicago Food Depository has serviced my family in the past and I’m thankful for organizations let them. The same lunches I packed are the same meals I received as a child. These programs not only help place food on peoples tables. The Greater Chicago Food Depository insures those who normally couldn’t afford holiday dinner with all the fittings can still do the American tradition of gathering around a turkey at Thanksgiving.

.

This year Kiehl’s X Andrew Bannecker have done a wonderful collaboration for Feeding America Holiday collection. Kiehl’s 10th Annual Limited Edition Charitable Holiday Collection will sells be used to donate up to $100,000 to Feeding America®, this holiday season. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing what I experienced at the State Farm & Essence #WOMENLETSWIN Event Chicago. The multi-city series featured Eva Marcille of Real House Wives of Atlanta fame at the Chicago stop.
Are you looking for the information on the State Farm & Essence #WOMENLETSWIN Event Chicago? Who was there? How did the vision board party go? What did Eva Marcille share about her thoughts on financial wealth? You’ve come to the right place just keep reading.
This event series features candid conversations with Eva Marcille, Angela Yee and Tina Knowles Lawson on their personal and professional journeys and how they brought their vision to life.
The event I attended featured Eva Marcille, Chicagoland State Farm owner Tenyiah Simmons Patterson and was moderated by Essence’s Senior digital Life Style editor, Charli Penn.
Also shared was how they navigated life in order to secure financial success. Each also spoke about how important it was to save and have good credit. I liked that they believed that respect for money is something that’s learned and necessary to be a successful entrepreneur.
.
I found the event to be very informative and fun. A vision board party is a great way to map and manifest your aspirations.
Traditional people do vision board parties at the beginning of the year; however, at this time for me it was much needed. Doing the vision board helped me refocus on my goals. Being a visual person the images helped in realigning my thoughts on what I’m working so hard for.
.

I was left with so many much needed nuggets. It was honestly hard to narrow it down to just three.
One of the gems was to make sure to take time for yourself. Tenyiah shared that for the last five years she takes off Fridays and gets a massage. She’s an owner of two State Farm locations so it’s easy for her to pick and choose her schedule. She did say even as a for hire working pick a day of the week and make that day all about you.
The second gift Tenyiah offered was to women working 9 to 5. She had encouraging words and said be sure to make your wins known. She said celebrate your wins as you climb the corporate ladder to success. If you don’t let people know what you’ve done then how are they going to know what you can do.
The last piece of advice I’d like to share came from Eva Marcille. She talked about how everyone proudly says, “I’m booked and busy.” She then went on to say real financial freedom happens when the money is made passively. She shared, the businesses she’s launching for streams of income are ones that don’t require her to be super hands on. I took that as automated money is the way to go and I’m all for that!

.
Essence is having event similar to this one on October 17th called Path To Power. This event includes Essence editor Charreah Jackson, Taria Buchanan a Northwestern Mutual advisor along with curlBox founder Myleik Teele. You can RSVP here.

This blog post is about visiting McDonald’s New Chicago headquarters with Black McDonald’s Operators Association of Chicago and Northwest Indiana (BMOA). The Mcdonald’s Chicago Office With BMOA does include a food sampling which is a bonus! I’m also slipping the tea. Thank me later, lol.

Are you looking for me to give you the behind the scene look at McDonald’s new home office in Chicago? Do you know about BMOA? Do you know what they do in the community? Keep reading to see what McDonald’s is doing beyond serving hot fries!

The Black McDonald’s Operators Association of Chicago and Northwest Indiana is committed to help the area’s African American communities by providing educational resources, promoting tolerance and acceptance, and empowering the people they serve. These meaningful efforts engage Chicagoland’s neighborhoods and embody the true spirit of family and community.
There is currently over 60 BMOA located in Chicago and Northwest Indiana. They spoke about how BMOA touches the communities they service. I was especially touched when I learned about the annual turkey drive called Food for the Body & Spirit” Thanksgiving program. Of course BMOA are apart of the Bud Billiken Day Parade and I’ve personally seen BMOA support CPS students.
Find out more about BMOA here.

Moving to a new location can be hard but McDonald’s made it look so easy. Originally in Oak brook the corporate office moved to the old Oprah Harpo studios site.
The exterior of the building has a warehouse look to keep inline with the neighborhood. However the the interior is very modern. There is a lot to see while you’re there. You can easily learn a ton of McDonald’s history.
I currently have the full tour in my Instastories. You can see it here. While you’re there be sure to like a few on my photo, lol.

I learned some behind the veil info about McDonald’s. THEY ARE WORKING ON A NEW BREAKFAST SANDWICH AND IT’S BOMB!!!! Tell everybody you know I said it’s a banger. Sadly, the french toast breakfast sandwich is only be served in Minnesota for testing. It’s so good I can’t see why it’s wouldn’t be hitting the Chicagoland area soon. Thank me later, lol
McDonald’s is also working on improving their computer network as a way to improve the customer experience. I learned that changes at McDonald’s don’t happen over night. For example the idea on the self service kiosk was an almost 15 year roll out.
Management told us what happen to the beloved orange soda and I had to say was ok sis, lol. Overall I had a good time and thankful that the BMOA tapped me for their first influencer visit. In case your wondering McDonald’s employee don’t get free food, yipes!
I attended this event as a guest of BMOA in honor on national breakfast month, however; All opinions are my own. Dress gifted by Eloquii while in NYC for theCurvycon.

In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my experience at Lincoln Park Zoo Chicago adults-only event “A night at the zoo.” The event offers a kid-free view of the zoo’s amazing animals & gardens.
“Zoo animals are ambassadors for their cousins in the wild.” _Jack Hanna
.
.
Lincoln Park Zoo’s Night At The Zoo offers more than just views of the zoo’s animals & gardens. There were food vendors and yes there was also adult beverages vendors servicing beer and wine for purchase. Night At The Zoo had a boom DJ, games for my friends and I to play.

.

Ride the carousel: You can find near the AT&T Endangered Species section the carousel. I felt like a big kid going around on the carousel with the wind blowing through my hair. Best of the carousel ride is FREE!
Listen to the Live DJs: The DJs on handle offered basically any type of music you would like. There was a DJ playing top 40, 90s, oldies, hip-hop and electronic.
Sip while touring the Zoo: Most of Lincoln Park Zoo’s animal exhibits were open while my friends and I sipped on adult beverages.

.

Rules: All guests must be 21+ with a valid government issued ID.
It is recommended to print a paper ticket to prevent any technology complications which would prevent your ticket from displaying on your phone.
No outside food or beverage may be brought into the event.
This event will go on Rain or Shine. Of all the nights, It rained on the night I went.
.
I found the event fun. I did however personally thought the event was a little pricey not to include a drink and or a food ticket. Food and drinks can be purchased separately. Events like Grits & Biscuits and The Makossa Cookout are a little less costly. The group that puts the event on says a large portion of the proceeds benefit Lincoln Park Zoo and helps the zoo stay free and open 365 days a year. So for that reason, I’m going to give them a pass on the cost of the event ticket. I believe the pricing is tiered. The closer to the event that you purchase your ticket the more it cost. Honestly, my friends and I purchased our tickets the week of. I was also happy there wasn’t the large crowd you would get on a regular day at the zoo. No kids! This may be one time was I happy to adult with other adults! I had a good time. This was something I had been wanting to do for a while and I glad I did. You can learn more about Lincoln Park Zoo and all of it’s events here.
