Unapologetically Fat

Plus size blogger chicago 1

Why does my fat make people uncomfortable?  Why does my waistline concern others?  Why don’t you know I’m unapologetically fat.  As I type this playing in my head is India Arie song “Video.”

When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it’s suppose to be
And I know my creator didn’t make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my Lips, my eyes, I’m loving what I see

I’ve always been a champion for the voiceless.  I’ve never had an issue using My Miss Celie voice.  I’m a body positive blogger.  Be happy with you.  It’s amazing to me when I hear or see people commenting on what I or plus size women wear.  Really at times I don’t know where to start.  This post was suppose to be about the events I attended this past weekend and a beautiful dress I wore as a homage to to Beyonce’s Formation look.  In attending one event I felt that a group of women watching me the second I walked in.  They stood there in judgement.  Separately, As an invited guest I received a thank you email with included photos from the event.  The email included 30 photos.  My plus size guest or I wasn’t pictured in any.

I’ll take a step back and say that ALL the photos that the photographer  took of me and my guest couldn’t be used.  If you don’t want to see a fat girl like me on the scene my best advice to you is to poke your eyes out.  Fat girls travel, fat girls eat, fat girls slay and fat girl have confidence.  I would like it to be clear I’m unbothered over pictures.  The judgement is the force driving this post.

I personally could care less what others think of me.  When you know yourself you don’t have time to wonder if others like you.  I need women of size to start believing that.  People will always have something to say.  Hell they talked about Jesus so I know folks are going talk about my fluffy ass.

These is another reason why you need to June me in NYC for theCuvrycon.  Big girls unite, lol.

  1. I absolutely love this! I happen to be the girl with the small waist and fit legs but I always identify myself emotionally with the “fat girl”. Although I’m the “ideal” size, I’ve experienced the struggle of trying to hide from the spotlight and not be seen as a sex symbol. It became depressing at a point of time but I learned to love myself and be confident in who God created me to be. Anyways Sista Slayyyyyyyy! You look amazing. And I’m sharing this with all my fluffy girlsfriends!! XOXO
