I’m excited to see what 2018 has to offer. 2017 has been one hell of a year. My goodness, I could do a whole post about all the crazy that’s been going on. However, I’m staying upbeat in these troubling times by focusing on positive future plans. For 2018 my planned trip to London is huge! Originally the trip was focused on Paris however after seeing online reports from Simply Be‘s showing #THECURVECATWALK on the eve of London Fashion Week I know I had to attend in 2018. I’m a lover of fashion and travel and when the two meet I’m all for it. I’m writing this post because I get messages from many people saying I wish I could travel but I don’t have the money, time, people to go with me, etc, etc, etc. I’m here to tell you as a working-class girl with a full-time job that travels solo you can see the world too.
First things first if you’re traveling outside of the US you’ll need a passport. Relax a passport is very easy to get. Here’s what I know about getting a US passport. Current cost: $110. You’ll need documents like current government-issued ID, government-issued birth certificate, and a single 2-by-2-inch passport photo. It can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to receive it. Find out more about getting a passport here. I have mine so get yours!
Note: International can be a lot for a first-time traveler so pick an event happening in another city and travel during that time. For example, Essence Fest is a great time to visit New Orleans or Chicago for The Taste of Chicago.
I connect online with influencers from the area in which I’m going. Twitter is a great way to get chatty with people. I ask questions like what’s the best place to stay. I ask their opinion on good things to do while there. I follow their feed because many influencer tweet out about fun things happening locally.
I manage my travel budget by purchasing flights one way at a time. Purchasing your leaving and returning tickets all together doesn’t always save you money. Internationally can be a little bit different but split buying tickets can relieve the pressure on your wallet.
Note: Don’t go too long without buying the other ticket. You don’t want the other flight to sell out and you can’t complete your trip.
I don’t risk staying at any old hotel. I’m a fan of chains so you know what you’re getting. I’m not saying all chains are perfect. I have had a recent bad experience with the worldwide chain that I often use. However, I find issues are easier resolved when you can deal with a larger company.
Side note: I’m a “member” of that chain’s rewards program and I get points that can be used for free stays.

I’m excited about this gift to myself. London is a place I’ve been waiting to visit for a long time. I’ll be updating you monthly on how my plans are going. I have so much to do.

The Louis Vuitton exhibition was nothing less than luxury on full display. Curated by Olivier Saillard and Robert Carsen as artistic director & set designer, the exhibition retraces the adventure of the House of Louis Vuitton from 1854 to the present. A story told through the portraits of its founders, as well as those who today are inventing the Louis Vuitton of tomorrow.
This free admission exhibition was filled with the best that the Louis Vuttion brand has to offer. It was great to see how Louis Vuttion started to as a local luggage company unto the household brand that everyone wants to have a piece of. The wide range of visitors to the exhibition speaks to the brands reach beyond fashion but is a lifestyle.
It was amazing to see the role my hometown of Chicago played in the story of the Louis Vuttion brand. Louis Vuttion’s son George came to America for the first time when he attended the 1893 Chicago World’sFair. It was there he met with a department store owner who would help debut Louis Vuttion products in America.
I was able to see Louis Vuttion from the beginning as well as modern-day collaborations with brands like Vivienne Westwood to urban brands like Supreme.

Family time is always a great time. Chicago Navy pier was all fun and games for Chicago Toy And Game Fair aka ChiTAG. ChiTag is North America’s largest Toy and Game Fair. In it’s 15 year ChiTag was a ton of fun not only for my 5 year old nephew but for me as well. So many different people attend ChiTag from toy/game inventors & designers to gamers of all ages of play along with families. Not to mention Chicago media like myself.
At ChiTag we were able to review, play with and test the hottest toys and games from around the world your family, friends and other attendees like Legos playsets, Build or Boom, Shark Bite, Catch the Fox, Rummikub Twist, Fish Food, all new Doggie Doo, Greedy Granny, Ultra Dash, Marbleocity, Automoblox, Magformers, Tileblox, Clicformers, Ice Cool, King Frog, Reef Route, Woo-Hoo, Flower Fairies, Peter Rabbit Secret Garden, 8-Bit Art Mario and many more! This post is child focused with my nephew, Jaivon, picking his 3 favorite from things from ChiTag 2017. S/N Ben’s Bubble Show is always my favorite!
2. Oral Health America. Oral health wasn’t toy based so I was a little shocked that Jaivon wanted to visit their booth. He saw the teeth and said I brush my teeth every day to keep them clean. I was like ok, lol. Even at his young age he knows the importance of oral health. The nice people at the OHA booth gave him a coloring sheet that he was able to color. He was happy to use his favorite color which is red. It took a village to snap this picture so it’s going up on Facebook!

3. Star Wars lunch. As you can see Jaivon was amazed by all the Star Wars characters. He was about to play with him and take pictures. He said “WOW! Grandma we’re in a movie.” The lunch was very nice. Besides the great meal it was great seeing how happy Jaivon was while playing with the other children and toys at the Star Wars lunch. He very happy to go with a Paw Patrol activity tin and Star Wars Monopoly. Clearly a win win for Jaivon!

Bonus – Fun with new friends! Chicago Toy and Game Fair gives child a chance to pay with children they might normally meet in their neighbor or school. I love that the children were freely playing with each other. One mom said to me “I know my son is happy yo be here because there is only girls at home. Her son and my nephew played like they were best friends at the Uno booth for at least 30 mins. Uno attack game was a big hit at the fair for us and will be under our tree for Christmas.

Bonus – Santa! Santa even in balloon form is always a great sight to see. The balloon Santa moved and danced. Jaivon got a chance to tell Santa he’s been a good boy all year.

The third launch from the Fenty Beauty brand will bring us the lip paint “Stunna”. The lip paint follows up the initial face launch that gave us Fenty foundation and the much talked about Trophy Wife. Next up was the holiday Galaxy Collection. Now we have Stunna the red lip. I’m just going to tell you know I’m very excited for this lip paint. The last time Rihanna dipped her toe into the making of a bold red lip color it during her collaboration with M.A.C. That’s when the cult favorite “Riri Woo” was born. It was the prefect red matte lip for every girl in the world. I’m exciting Stunna lip paint should give us nothing less.

The tube looks opaque, bold red lip product. The lip paint doesn’t come the same packaging as the gloss. The lip paint has a long, facetted conical top instead of the shorter, flat-topped version on the gloss. I seems that this is a one of lip paint drop but others are speculating this intense red liquid lipstick is only part of the brand’s next generation of launches. Rihanna has hinted at plans for an expanded lip collection in future. I’ll be in line November 23rd to see. Oh did I mention the lip paint price point is $24.

People often say what a difference a day makes. When it comes to Chicago weather what a difference a minute makes. My city is known for its extremely cold weather. Harsh winds and mounts of snow pretty much sum up Chicago winters. One can easily get in the habit of throwing on tons of clothes just to stay warm. I have found a coat that offers form and function. That’s saying a lot from a girl born and raised in Chicago. I’ve seen a lot of winter coats come and go. This ASOS parka is here to stay!
This plus-size coat by ASOS CURVE is so clutch. It’s everything a girl needs to stay warm during the cold weather season. It feels like I’m walking around with a blanket on and I love it! Below are some of the highlights from this teddy bear of a coat.
This coat is great for cold-weather cities like Chicago. There isn’t a need to double or triple up like I’ve done in the past with other coats. I wanted to also note that this coat is stylish. The coat I’m wearing is a size 18. I could have gone down one size for a slimmer fit, however, I can easily add a large sweater under my current one without an issue.
The white top I’m wearing is a ribbed jersey Similar Cami with a scoop neck from the tall section of ASOS. It comes with cami straps and deep scoop back with press-stud fastening underneath. I love bodysuits. They look great on me. I like how they offer a seamless look when paired with jeans or skirts. I’m wearing a straight size tall 16. The fit was ok I wish I would have gone down a size for a more close-cut bodycon fit that is ideal. Oh did I mention this cami are currently on sale for under $10!

ASOS CURVE’S Similar distressed Boyfriend Jean in Lillian with Rips and Stepped Hem is my new best friend. The style is so on-trend and the fit is flattering for my shape. They are currently on sale for under $30 dollars. The available sizing is currently up to a 24. I’m wearing a size 18. I could have done a 16 but I’m not upset with my 18. My only complaint is that they only came in the one color because I love them so much! See below for more details on the jeans.
I pulled the whole look together with my red Steve madden crossbody worn as a fanny pack. The one I have on is not available however Madden has a newer version called W-LEADER. The W-LEADER bag looks like the Gucci’s GG Marmont matelassé leather belt bag social media has been going crazy over. I added my go-to leather booties. Everyone knows my look wouldn’t be complete with a bold lippie. I have on one of my favorite reds from M.A.C. called Feel So Grand. The chain I have on is an oldie but a goodie. Tights are an affordable way to update a look. They’re a great way to bring some of your summer and even spring looks into fall or winter comfortably. Who doesn’t want to wear their favorite dress or shorts into the next season? That same dress you rock all summer can now be worn in the fall by simply adding tights to the look. Tights are one of my best cold weather friends. Depending on the pair you’re wearing they can be not only functionally but sexy or fun.
I have collected a few of my favorite brands so you can see what tight options are out there. I have selected tights from Lane Bryant, ASOS, Eloquii, Macy’s and Target. Tights come in lots of colors and styles so there is something for everyone.

What does denier mean?
One of the key features of tights is the denier. By definition, denier is a unit of weight used for determining the fineness or thickness of the tights. The lower the denier value, the more fragile and sheer the tights are.
Tights less than 40 denier are generally referred to as pantyhose or stockings. The higher the denier number, the thicker the tights. Opaque tights are commonly available in 50 denier, 60 denier, and 70 denier thicknesses.

I’m at Blogalicious! I’m very excited to be here! This is #Blogalicious9 and my first time attending. I’ve been posting everything on my Instastories. So if you’re not following me there now is the time! I’ve done a tour of the hotel and the Blogalicious hall. I’m working with the good people of Blogalicioius so I’ll be a little of everywhere. During my recent visit to New York for theCurvycon and New York Fashion Week I connecting with the Macy’s plus size team. So you’ll be seeing some products from the Macy’s plus section on the blog.
The first Macy’s item I’m sporting is this super cute Levi’s Plus Size Graphic Logo T-Shirt . Macy’s carries a large selection of Levi’s items in plus size. There are Levi’s tops, jackets, shorts, and of course jeans. I know many don’t know that Levi’s even has plus sizes. So it’s great that Macy’s offers so much to choose from.
As far as Day 1 of Blogalicious. It was pretty chill for me. I spent the morning taking pictures in and of the hotel. I helped out at two sections. The rest of my time was spent catching up with other bloggers I know from online or with my roommate Ashley.
