Pastel colors are usually described as “soothing”, “soft”, “near neutral”, “milky”, “washed out”, “desaturated”, and lacking strong chromatic content.  Pink, mauve, and baby blue are typical pastel colors.  Often times plus size women feel that they can’t wear pastels and choose to stick to black.  Here are 5 quick tips to wearing pastel for the plus size girl ready to step out their box.

I worn this pastel dress with silver.  Silver or gray goes great with the muted colors.

Pastel works well with bright colors.   This would great time to add playful accessories.

Use pastel as your pop of color by pairing pastel with neutral colors.  Try wearing pastel jeans with a nude top and shoe.

Wearing two or three pastel colors together is a great look.

You can also wear one pastel color in different shades.  That’s a great way to rock the Spring style.

Dating While Internet Famous

“Man I can understand how it might be
Kinda hard to love a girl like me
I don’t blame you much for wanting to be free
I just wanted you to know” _ Kanye West (Famous)

I’ve a few people as about my dating status my post on my first date at the museum.  Well that when nowhere.  I found it very hard to date as a blogger.  Let me know blame blogger it could be this age of social media.  I’m in a Instagram profile like 92 weeks ago like oh hell nah.  Yes I’m that girl, lol.  I’m all on a Twitter post from 2014 thinking why is he tweeting about having to pay child support.  I have to do better.

In this social media is age the first thing a person will sometimes ask you for is your Instagram.  Even before your phone.  I had this one guy see I was a blogger and ask if I could promote this mixtape.  Dude I’m not part of your street team.  Or worst they think I’m going to blast them over my social channels. That would be a no.

Well that’s the dry update on my dating status, lol.  I’m going to start using a few dating apps in March.  I’ll let you guys know how that goes. In other news I found a face mask that I’m loving. You can read about it here.

What beauty standards are we leaving our children?

Beyonce offered a powerful look into the mind of many women with her song “Pretty Hurts.”  She sings “Mama said, “You’re a pretty girl. What’s in your head, it doesn’t matter Brush your hair, fix your teeth. What you wear is all that matters.”  I’m not saying that every women is raised to believe this but many have. Pushing our self esteem issues onto our children is a powerful thing.  We tell our girls what not “good” about themselves.  We focus on hair. Is it long and thick?  Does it have the right wave patten?  We focus on weight and size.  We push our own size issue onto the next generation.  Many of us do this unknowingly.  It’s done in how we address ourselves in front of our children.  Comments like “I look so fat in this” or “I need to lose weight, I’m so ugly.”  Our children see & hear how we treat ourselves and start treating themselves the same way.  How could a child every feel pretty when they know the person they look just alike doesn’t like the way they look.  Often times focusing on girls we forget out boys.  It’s important to note we tell our boys what to value as beautiful.

Dove has a short film they just released out called “Legacy”.  In the short Dove ask 5 pair of mothers and daughters to write a separate lists of what they like and don’t like about themselves.  My of the daughters were found the same body issues that their mother had with themselves.

Dove is asking women who they #FeelBeautifulFor .  This is Dove’s campaign for their 5th Self Esteem Weekend happening October 9 – 12.  The women of this generation should stop at ask ourselves “What beauty standards are we leaving our children?”

See the Dove Legacy short here.

Outfit ideas for any sporting event

basketball-look

I was lucky enough to score a pair of tickets to the the Chicago Bulls vs Cleveland Cavs game.  *insert emoji smile* The blogger in me thought black ball grown! Sounds about right!!  Just kidding , lol.  I was however  a little stuck on what to wear.  Should I be a super fan wearing Bulls gear from head to toe.  Or be extra with a floor length mink with Jimmy Choo shoes like a diva.  Chicago Bulls games have become a real fashion event.  And now that the Bulls have added Dwyane Wade to the team I could find myself seating shoulder to shoulder with his wife and Birth of Nation star Gabrielle Union.  If I’m having this issue how many other fashionable sports fan were?  I came up with a few looks that’ll cover all style mavens for any sporting event.
