“Shine bright like a diamond” _ Rihanna

I love to play with fashion. My style can be described as whimsical glam. When I first saw these Missguided jean shorts I know I had to have them. It’s not offered that I see short ripped to this degree in plus sizes. They were fabulous alone but I know I was bringing them to TCFExpo I wanted to add a little something something to them to make them stand out.

I went to a local fabric store and purchased a rhinestone applique. Rhinestone appliques can be expensive however I found it to be worth it. I hand sewed the applique to my short. I’m not a sewer at all so believe me when I say it’s easy. I placed the applique on one side of the shorts and cut it to fit the pattern of the ripped jeans. I then sewed it down. I then repeated the process on the other side of the jeans.

When you attend events like TCFExpo you want to be creative and show your personality through style.

The top I’m wearing is a from straight size section. I chose to not wear my arms through the sleeve and wear the top as a tube top.

I applied a rhinestone applique to this ripped denims to add a personal style touch. I purchased the applique from a local fabric store.

The jumpsuit is from the Winohah Summer 2017 line. This striped linen jumpsuit is currently priced at 845.30 US Dollar and is everything! Stylist and personal shopper King Cartier paired the jumpsuit with the so trendy Gucci Wide leather double G belt. I was inspired to redo this look in my own plus size way.

Plus size women can rock stripes and look amazing do it. I know this look would be idea to wear to TCFExpo. It’s fashionable and effortless. The jumpsuit look is prefect for work or play.

My fast friend Ashley and I have been in support of each other since we met a year ago in Atlanta for the TCFexpo. Time and space comes together and creates great things. At that time it was our friendship. Time and space came together again and created #SCxFGOFtakeNYC. Ashley and I visited NYC together and had the time of our lives.

The ASOS showing was the first event we attended together while taking over NYC. We were overjoyed when ASOS invited us to join them in diving into their newest launch and collaborations. I’m a huge fan of ASOS so for me Christmas came early.

If you’re not familiar with ASOS it’s a British online fashion and beauty store. Primarily aimed at young adults, ASOS sells over 850 brands as well as its own range of clothing and accessories. I personally love their CURVE & PLUS SIZE section. It’s trendy and ready speaks to my whimsical style in an affordable way.

It’s that time of year that many women stare at themselves in the mirror and say why didn’t I work out a little more? Or why didn’t I pass on that cheesecake? This time of year is called swimsuit season. This time of year can be even tougher for plus size women and girls. While at Blogher my friends and I went to pool and talked about dealing with our own swimsuit and body issues. It was great being able to jump into this topic and the pool feet first with Ashley of IAMFABELLIS and Tot of TOTALLYTOT.

I personally love a two piece swimsuit. I have a larger mid section so I prefer high waisted suits. That does not mean all plus size women have to pick those kinds of suits. I don’t believe in the idea of “dressing for your body.” Wear what makes you happy! For some that’s a one piece and that’s O.K.!! If you’re a one piece kind of girl try a strapless suit to add a little vavavoom.

I’m also a fan of cover ups. I love a kimono. They’re a great way to wear your swimsuit on whether it’s a one piece or a two piece but not show the world everything. I find the best way to wear swimwear with confidence is by getting connected. Get a few people that support you and send time loving them and allowing them to love you. Yes, self confidence starts with self. However, It’s feels good to have true support from people that wish you well. The girls and I sat poolside and talks about butt shapes and stretch marks. We all had parts of we wish we could upgrade but told each other that we were beauty just the way we were.

Wearing a swimsuit as a plus size women or girl with confidence starts by first putting one on!

Eloquii will be keeping their current pop-up store open through the summer while they build out their new space a few doors down. The permanent location is slated to open formally in early August.

This pop up shop opened 10 weeks ago and I’m hoping leads to Eloquii opening more stores nationwide. Chicago for one, lol. Eloquii pop up store found themselves featured in USATODAY’s article on Why plus-size stores edging into brick-and-mortar matters. The article spoke on how plus-size consumer is expanding from brands and designers, it’s still lagging behind in one of the most basic areas of retail: The brick-and-mortar store. The article goes on to quote J.C. Penney’s chief merchant John Tighe, “We believe the demand for plus-size fashion will continue to grow,” Tighe says, noting that special size markets “keep our brick-and-mortar stores relevant as plus-size customers prefer to try their clothes on before committing to a purchase.” In this same article BuzzFeed writer Kaye Toal, a who covers plus-size issues said “Plus-size vendors being only online underlines this social expectation that fat bodies stay hidden,” she says. “With fewer physical spaces that are created for us and celebrate us, where we are welcome and our needs are met, we are being told implicitly that we don’t deserve those spaces at all. This is obviously not true.”
