The Fashion Centre is located in Pentagon City and is also known as Pentagon City Mall, in Arlington, Virginia. This pop up shop opened 10 weeks ago and I’m hoping leads to Eloquii opening more stores nationwide. Chicago for one, lol. Eloquii pop up store found themselves featured in USATODAY’s article on Why plus-size stores edging into brick-and-mortar matters. The article spoke on how plus-size consumer is expanding from brands and designers, it’s still lagging behind in one of the most basic areas of retail: The brick-and-mortar store. The article goes on to quote J.C. Penney’s chief merchant John Tighe, “We believe the demand for plus-size fashion will continue to grow,” Tighe says, noting that special size markets “keep our brick-and-mortar stores relevant as plus-size customers prefer to try their clothes on before committing to a purchase.” In this same article BuzzFeed writer Kaye Toal, a who covers plus-size issues said “Plus-size vendors being only online underlines this social expectation that fat bodies stay hidden,” she says. “With fewer physical spaces that are created for us and celebrate us, where we are welcome and our needs are met, we are being told implicitly that we don’t deserve those spaces at all. This is obviously not true.”
