Anyone who knows me knows I heart ASOS.  Tasha of retrobytasha in this Red Gingham Smock ASOS dress is everything!!!  You could wear a flat to work and slide into a heel for an after work meet up with bae and have nothing to worry about.

TheCurvycon is a month away.  Where has the time gone?  I’m very excited.  This is my second year attending.  I had a wonderful time at theCurvycon 2016.  I also travel to NYC often.  I know that this year’s theCurvycon is going to very special because it’s happening during one of the busiest time in New Year which is Fashion Week.  New York will be crazy in a good way.  With 30 days until theCurvycon here’s a quick checklist to make sure your trip goes off without a hitch.

Purchase your theCurvyccon ticket – As of today, Platinum and teal tickets are sold out!  You can still get general admission tickets.  Those tickets are available here.  Plans do change so you may see tickets online for resale.  BE CAREFUL!!!!  Those tickets are not guaranteed because they are not coming from theCurvycon’s Eventbrite page.  Only purchase resale tickets from people you know and trust.  You don’t want to arrive and your ticket not be honored.

Did you know? Last year theCurvycon team starting selling this year’s theCurvycon tickets the week following the event.  So save a few coins for that because they offered a discount on those tickets.  I hope they do that again because that’s when I purchased my platinum ticket.

 

Grand-Hyatt-New-York-Double

Book Your Room – Rooms are going fast.  They are also getting pricey.  If you’re renting a hotel room or an AirBNB you really need to book today.  New York rooms are smaller than rooms in other parts of the US but sharing is a great way to save.

Did you know? theCurvycon has a Facebook group for ticket holders.  People are looking for roommates.  So purchase your ticket here and join the group.

 

10 WAYS TO TRAVEL IN PLUS SIZE STYLE | #FATGIRLSTRAVEL ....

Flight/Train/Bus Tickets – By now you should know how you’re going to get there.  If you haven’t as of yet book your travel plans.  I suggest coming in Thursday because theCurvycon events start at 9:30 am on Friday.

Did you know? Save room in your suitcase for your swag and purchases.  Some of my favorite brands like Gwynnie Bee, ASOS, Eloquii, ModCloth, and Macy’s will be at theCurvycon mall.

Plan Your Outfits – This is a fashion event so bring it!  You don’t have to wear Gucci.  I find the best looks are when a person is creative.  Time does fly so you want to make sure you have time for your orders to come in.  You have time to try your clothes on and reorder if needed.

Did you know? It’s possible that an agency or two will be scouting at theCURVYcon.  You could be the new face of your favorite brand.

Clean out our phone – This may seem very random but it’s not.  There’s nothing worst than having the prefect selfie all lined up with your favorite blogger and your phone says you’re out of memory.  Take the next couple of weeks and delete the old food pictures so that you’ll be able to capture all the fun without any issue.

Did you know? If you can’t decide which pics to let go of simply save them to your computer and then remove them from your phone.

Make reservations – Start thinking about all the restaurants and tours you’ve been wishing to go to.  Now is the time to books that tour or place a call to that restaurant.  NYFW is super business and your don’t want to miss out because they’re booked up.

Did you know? You can book many tours and restaurants online? Yep!  Let your fingers do the walking, lol.

While I was headed to the Friday night mixer at the TCFExpo a little girl stopped me and said: “You look like a princess!”  I responded “You can be a princess too! You can dress up any day you want.  I prefer Tuesday.”

These pink cape had me the second I saw it.  I know I had to have it.  When I tried it on I stood in the mirror for awhile just looking at myself and smiling.  It’s from the straight size section at a Chicago store.

I often say don’t just stuck to plus size stores when stopping.  Many straight size stores do have some oversized pieces.  I also look for accessories in straight stores.  Open your mind when shopping.  Of course, not everything in a straight size store will fit but you might find something fab to kick off an amazing outfit!

Premme said this is not your average denim dress. This medium wash off-the-shoulder midi is inspired by 1950s style, with an update that is totally 2017.  This dress comes with rose gold buttons, side cut-outs, and deep, oversized patch pockets.  The Premme site states this dress is true to size, but has stretch for comfort and support. They don’t recommend sizing down or else the buttons will gape.

I found the dress to be very pretty.  The buttons did gap a little but nothing that was noticeable.  I felt very sexy in the dress.  The side cut out were super cute.  The Premme dress was a huge hit at the TCFExpo mixer.

plus denim shorts #TCFExpo ...“Shine bright like a diamond” _ Rihanna

I love to play with fashion.  My style can be described as whimsical glam.  When I first saw these Missguided jean shorts I know I had to have them.  It’s not offered that I see short ripped to this degree in plus sizes.  They were fabulous alone but I know I was bringing them to TCFExpo I wanted to add a little something something to them to make them stand out.

I went to a local fabric store and purchased a rhinestone applique.  Rhinestone appliques can be expensive however I found it to be worth it.  I hand sewed the applique to my short.  I’m not a sewer at all so believe me when I say it’s easy.  I placed the applique on one side of the shorts and cut it to fit the pattern of the ripped jeans.  I then sewed it down.  I then repeated the process on the other side of the jeans.

I was strolling though Instagram minding my own business when I saw this bomb look.

The jumpsuit is from the Winohah Summer 2017 line.  This striped linen jumpsuit is currently priced at 845.30 US Dollar and is everything!  Stylist and personal shopper King Cartier paired the jumpsuit with the so trendy Gucci Wide leather double G belt.  I was inspired to redo this look in my own plus size way.  

Plus size women can rock stripes and look amazing do it.  I know this look would be idea to wear to TCFExpo.  It’s fashionable and effortless.  The jumpsuit look is prefect for work or play.

My fast friend Ashley and I have been in support of each other since we met a year ago in Atlanta for the TCFexpo.  Time and space comes together and creates great things.  At that time it was our friendship.  Time and space came together again and created #SCxFGOFtakeNYC.  Ashley and I visited NYC together and had the time of our lives.

The ASOS showing was the first event we attended together while taking over NYC.  We were overjoyed when ASOS invited us to join them in diving into their newest launch and collaborations.  I’m a huge fan of ASOS so for me Christmas came early.

If you’re not familiar with ASOS it’s a British online fashion and beauty store. Primarily aimed at young adults, ASOS sells over 850 brands as well as its own range of clothing and accessories.  I personally love their CURVE & PLUS SIZE section.  It’s trendy and ready speaks to my whimsical style in an affordable way.

Los Angeles-based Orly has teamed up with lifestyle website MuslimGirl.com to create a limited-edition set of nail polishes called #HalalPaint.  The collection has been released at the idea time.  This is the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.  The collection polishes are made from 100 percent halal ingredients.  The Halal paint have been certified halal by the Islamic Society of The Washington Area. The Arabic word “halal” simply means permissible, and is used to denote items that fit within various religious requirements.  The ORLY polishes are permeable to water and air. This is important because of a ritual washing, called wudhu, that Muslims perform before prayers.

 

As part of the prayer ritual, Muslims are instructed to wash their hands and arms, up to the elbow. Water must reach all parts of the hands. Some Muslim women forego wearing nail polish because they are concerned it may interfere with this requirement, since it may act as a barrier and prevent water from reaching their nails. For those who have this concern, “halal” nail polish is a potential solution.  The collaboration with MuslimGirl.com aims to present a viable beauty solution for Muslim women, as well as a new way to promote nail health.

T Rivera Swim was created by Tammy Rivera in 2015.  The T Rivera swimwear line caters to women of all sizes while taking a fashion forward approach.  T Rivera is manufactured domestically in the USA and expanded into the plus size field with it’s current collection.
