As a child they first and only movie I can remember my whole family going to see is Batman. I think that’s why the Batman series holds a special place in my heart. Even though the Joker movie is a standalone film I’m very excited to see it.
In learning about the background of the Joker movie I was even more inspired to recreate the Joker’s look into a plus size costume. The Joker film can be viewed as a cautionary tale set in 1981. As a failed stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck Fleck begins a slow dissent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Achieving the Joker makeup look was simple. The whole Joker makeup look took 5 items. White cream halloween costume makeup was used as the white base. A little loose setting power. Sephora brand lip liner in the color “It’s cherry” to shape the eyebrows and Stoplight Red Wet N Wild MegaLast Lip Color to create the Joker smile. The blue clown face triangles were made with Stila sapphire eyeshadow. The look can be completed with a green wig.
The makeup was easy to apply and took like 15 minutes. Originally, I thought the base base was going to be hard to cover my darker skin but it went on very easy.

Halloween is my favorite holiday! Full stop. What I don’t like is the money plus women have to fork over to get an Instagram worthy look for Halloween. The Joker look could easily be hanging in you closet right now. Do you have a maroon or reddish suit. Yes than you’re half way done. Because I didn’t have a have a males green shirt I did have to purchase one. The one I’m wearing was purchased from Ross. I was not able to get the gold/yellow vest but I’m o.k. with that. I already had the oxford shoes. The suit and shoes were in my closet so I can testify this costume can be worn long past Halloween. The shirt and vest honestly for me not so much. But going to a budget store like Ross or T.J. Maxx and grabbing the shirt won’t break the bank.
I feel I hit the nail on the head with this plus size inspired Joker look. What do you think?! Am I ready for Halloween?
