Congrats Gabi on being sold Nordstrom!
Gabi expressed how happy she was to be expanding her swimwear line to Nordstrom on her Instagram.
Seven years ago I searched endlessly for plus size bikinis to no avail. When I finally found one and posted a photo in it, the response was huge and immediate. People told me they had never seen someone my size wearing a two piece. The next year, I made a gallery of plus size women in bikinis – it went viral and we started a movement. Back then, very few mainstream brands sold stylish swimwear above size 14, let alone bikinis. Some women in our community were cutting and sewing one pieces into bikinis to make their own, or buying unsupportive and basic options from the few that existed. We made do with what we had. (Shout out to Monif for being the exception!) The following year, @swimsuitsforall contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in designing a capsule collection. It was still new and risky to give a blogger creative control and the industry told us that plus size women didn't want sexy or stylish options and that they wouldn't sell. But swimsuitsforall believed in my crazy idea to make a galaxy print two piece with mesh cutouts. It sold out within 48 hours, crashed the website and made international headline news. The industry finally took notice. The following year, every major plus size brand started carrying bikinis and the swimwear market has only continued to get bigger and better with every season. I am so proud that today, after 5 years and 5 successful collections with @swimsuitsforall, my designs are now available at one of the biggest and best shopping destinations in the world, @nordstrom .com. Thank you guys so much for your support! I can't wait to show you what's next 👙
