Voting | Know The Rules

BlueButton

I didn’t know voting rights varied so much from state to state.  In the state of Illinois you’re not required to show ID unless you’re registering the at the polling place or a first-time voter who registered by mail but did not proof of identity.  These voters must bring two of the forms of IDs.  To vote in Illinois you must:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Live in the district in Illinois in which you want to vote by Oct 9 (Look up your polling place)
  • Be 18 years old by Election Day, Nov 8
  • Not be convicted and in jail for a felony
  • Not claim the right to vote in another state

If you’re in IL can’t reminder if you registered to vote you can check elections.il.gov.  My registration couldn’t be confirmed but my mom’s was.
