You heard right! Mark your calendar for early fall.
Kahlana Barfield
Kahlana was born and raised in Seattle. She’s a graduate of Howard University school of journalism. She has now carved a niche for herself in the hyper-competitive world of fashion and beauty publishing. The wife and mother has had several key positions, including Beauty Director, and fulfilled duties that ranged from writing in-depth features to reporting live from the red carpet. The former Beauty Editor of InStyle Magazine, Kahlana now serves as an ambassador for leading fashion and beauty brands globally. She uses her influence to inspire her audience.
Speaking about her new collection Kahlana said “I drew inspiration from my own personal fashion formula and the style I’ve created for myself throughout my life,” Barfield-Brown said. “It’s all about the essentials; everything goes back to the foundation. I wanted to build a collection that let you create that strong base with bodysuits, great denim, blazer, and jackets, and then find your own flair through accessories, layers, and fit. It was important to me that these pieces feel classic but versatile, able to stand the test of time while still having cool details that really catch the eye and let your personal style shine.”

FROM BEGINNING TO END, THERE’S NO PART OF THE COLLECTION THAT BARFIELD-BROWN WASN’T FULLY INVOLVED WITH.
The collection includes categories across apparel and accessories items. Barfield-Brown’s Future Collective collection will feature 120 streetwear-inspired clothing and basics for women, including dresses, matching suits and pants, plus some accessories in four seasonal updates. The first drop arrives on the 11th of September at Target.com and selected Target stores. Followed by three more drops, the last of which will be in November. Prices range from $ 17 to $ 70 for each piece, with most items under $ 30, and are available in sizes XXS to 4XL.
Each Future Collective collection will also be limited edition and effectively out of print when sold out with Target saying it has no plans to reproduce the individual collections. The next Target Future Collective collection design partner will be announced in December.
I’ll be posting which pieces I’ll be getting on Instastories. Tweet me at @fatgirl_fashion and tell me which pieces are your favorite.
