2022 Mom 2.0 Summit Day 1 | #MOM2

In this blog post, I’m sharing how the 2022 Mom 2.0 Summit Day 1 went.  What I did and wore.  Keep reading for detail on my first-ever Mom 2.0 Summit.

This is my first time attending Mom 2 and I’m so excited.  It’s also my first conference post the world shutting down.  And I’m glad I went.

2022 Mom 2.0 Summit Day 1

11:00 AM registration check-in started on the 7th-floor lobby of the Intercontinental DTLA.  After checking in with registration I went over to the Hollywood II room to ensure I got an up-close seat (which I did!) for the 12:00 PM Modern Storytellers: The Art of Storytelling in Business & Beyond + 3 Things You Need To Become a Better Storyteller on Social Media class.  With Michelle Villemaire of homemademimi and Brea Schmidt of thethinkingbranch gave some great information.

For me, Michelle’s best takeaway was to try writing with a screenwriting structure.  You can plug in your personal story and connect with people in different ways.  And Brea’s was it’s on to be vulnerable.  Vulnerability creates space for discussion.  Share for the people that need to hear you.

At 1:30 PM I listened to Jessica Abo who worked on messaging for business owners.  Along with on-air contributor Pamela Pekerman.  She is the founder of hustlelikeamom.  They delivered information on Content Creation: Become a Guest Expert for Media Tours and a Spokesperson for Brands and Causes You Love.  The content was eye-opening.

For me, Jessica’s best takeaway was when she say research before you pitch.  Don’t pitch someone and you don’t know what they do.  It’s a waste of time.  And Brea’s was when you pitch “Be ready!”  Don’t think you have time.  The person may say ok I want to book you for tomorrow.

At 3:00 PM I listened to Deepthi Uppala the founder and CEO of Syndee.  Followed by Carly Anderson of lipglossandcrayons.  They delivered information on Content Creation: Using Design Thinking to Optimize Your Content Strategy + How to Create A Month of Content in One Planning Session.  The message was confirming.  They both let me know I was on the right track with my content planning.

The last session I attended was at 4:30 PM.  It focused on Content Partnerships: The 6 Cs of Successful Content Partnerships & Sponsorships: A 2022 Update with Whitney Cicero of whinkcreative and Tanya Hayles of blackmomsconnection.  The message from Whitney was to price yourself right so brands will want to work with you.  She went on to say overdelivering will make brands want to work with you again.  Tana spoke about making sure that you are working with content creators that are diverse.  Much sure you’re trying to make space for everyone.
