The Folklore is a dynamic force reshaping the world of fashion, storytelling, and cultural appreciation. With a deep passion for celebrating diverse global heritage, Amira Rasool established The Folklore to bring a curated selection of international luxury fashion to the forefront of the digital age. The Folklore platform aims to create a space where stories, cultures, and creativity converge to produce something unique and meaningful.

At its core, The Folklore is an e-commerce platform that began with a vision to highlight the richness and diversity of African fashion and art on a global stage.  It shines a light on a wide range of luxury fashion, including clothing, accessories, and home goods, which are not only crafted with skill and dedication but also tell the story of the artisans behind them.  And gives a voice to artists who are often left out of mainstream channels, thus celebrating the beauty and history of Africa through diverse mediums.

Nordstrom’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policy and its focus on creating a welcoming and respectful workplace for all employees and customers make the brand an ideal partner for The Folklore.  Nordstrom believes that diversity makes communities better.  In 2020, Nordstrom outlined goals to increase Black and Latinx representation in people manager roles by 50% by 2025.  Nordstrom values creating a place where everyone can be themselves.
