Wearing Animal Print While Over 40

In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my thoughts wearing animal print while over 40.  I recently celebrated my 40th birthday and I had so must to think about as an older fashionista.  Does my style need to change?!

Age is a matter of feeling, not of years. – George William Curtis

When I think of a woman of a particular age wearing animal print the first person that pops into my head is Peggy Bundy. ¬†Yes! Al’s wife. ¬†Don’t get me wrong I love me so Peggy but we have to admit that her style is never been at the top of anyone’s fashion list. ¬†Now that I’m 40 I want to stay on trend however I don’t want to look as if I’m trying too hard.

It can be a slippery slope between being stylish and being extra. ¬†Then if you throw on a dress inappropriately for your age in the mix and it can all go to hell. ¬†I have a some fixes that I hold true to for pulling off any look. ¬†1) Make sure it fits. ¬†A poor fit will ruin the best look. ¬†2) ¬†Dress for the occasion. ¬†Something you could get away with wearing to the club may not be able to be pulled off at work. ¬†3) ¬†Make sure you’re comfortable. ¬†If you’re dressing sexy just cause then don’t. ¬†In the words of the late great Jermaine Stewart “You don’t have to take your clothes off.” ¬†And lastly 4) Have fun! ¬†It’s just clothes.

I have selected some fabulous animal print looks to feature. Leave in the comments which looks you love the most!

Hope this post offers encouragement and style inspiration.  It doesn’t take much to carry-off animal print.  If a full animal print look is too much for you there are still options.  To achieve a simpler look by pairing a solid suit with an animal print accessory.  Or select an animal print blouse and rock it with jeans.  From 8 to 80 any women can wear animal print.
